Recently I made a post teaching how to create a travel itinerary.
I taught all my tricks, from from finding cool programs to how to fit activities into each day. It's not a difficult process, but it can be quite laborious, especially if you still have no idea what to do at your destination.
Even worse is when you don't know where write the script. In a Word document separated by days, to take printed? In a spreadsheet on Google Drive so you can access it from anywhere? Write everything by hand old style same?
Luckily, I found a website that solves all these problems.
Not only does it show you the main attractions in the city, it calculates the time between them, how long you will spend visiting them, lets you create your own itinerary and even shows everything on an interactive map!
Today I'm going to show you how to use SygicTravel, a website for creating travel itineraries.
Sygic Travel – Website for creating travel itineraries
Creating a trip
To illustrate this post, I'm going to pretend I'm planning a visit to New York (I wish I did, lol). All tours, hotels and recommendations from graphic works they will be about the Big Apple, but the options will vary depending on your destination.
To begin, you need to answer the question “Where are you going?”. Sygic itself already offers several options, but it is possible to search for a specific city.
Then you need to provide details such as date, duration of the trip, where you will stay and where you will arrive. It's okay if you haven't defined this part yet, just leave it blank.
I put the hotel Crowne Plaza Times Square as accommodation, as I have already stayed there and the location is excellent.

Before starting to put together the itinerary, there is the possibility of making login. I recommend creating an account or logging in with Facebook, as this way your trip is saved and you can access it from other computers at any time. If you proceed without registering, you will lose all your work as soon as you leave the site.
After all this, you can finally access the main screen. Its content consists of:
- Main Menu, at the top of the page, where the travel destination is written, the day being planned, the search field, the currency in which the values will be displayed and a flag indicating the language in which the information will be displayed;
- Interactive map, where the itinerary is created visually according to the selected tours;
- Main tab with the options “Daily Plan, Places, Tours, Hotels, Flight Tickets, Car Rental, Subway Map, About and Transfers”. The places tab is chosen by default at the beginning of planning;
- Bottom tab and left menu, whose content varies depending on the main tab selected.
At first glance it looks like a website for putting together complicated travel itineraries, but trust me, it just takes a little practice.
Let's plan my first day in New York.

Planning a day
My trip will start on October 19th, which is the day shown in the main menu.
Selecting the “Daily Plan”, I see that two activities have already been automatically added to my itinerary: arrive at the airport JFK, and go from there to the hotel. It is estimated that it will take me 30 minutes to go through immigration and get a taxi (Imagine what a dream it would be if it were just that!!).
As I know I'm going to spend more time at the airport, and I don't want to make a miscalculation when I arrive, I'm going to fix this part.
It's just click on the activity and, when more information about it is displayed, click on the small gear next to the estimated time. There you can manually determine the duration and when it will start! In that case, I'll pretend my flight arrives at eight in the morning so I can have the rest of the day free.
Between the airport and hotel activities, it shows how long it will take to drive between the two places. If I want, I can change this option to walk, which would take four and a half hours. I think the car is fine hahaha.
A huge disadvantage is that there is no estimate of the time between stops using public transport.. Personally, in New York I only use the subway, something impossible to include in the itinerary.
Now I'm going to add some popular tours that are close to the Crowne Plaza, after all I'll be tired after the long flight and I'll just want to do light activities (You're feeling the touch of reality in this script, right?).
A little spin on Times Square and by Strawberry Fields, passing through the giant Forever XXI Broadway It's a good size.

How to add activities
Now we will use the “Locations”. When you click on it, the menu on the left displays some points of interest. The more popular they are, the closer they are to the top of the list. It's a great way to discover what to do at your destination.
In the case of New York, the Times Square takes first place, coinciding with my idea for the day. To find out more about the program, just click on its name, and a description in Portuguese, opinions from other travelers and guided tours are displayed.
As I already know what I want to do, I can just click on the “+” symbol that appears next to the photo. By doing this, the Times Square is added to my script, which is displayed in the “Daily Plan".
One annoying thing I couldn't figure out how to do is put the hotel after the airport and before the first tour. He only accepts that accommodation is the beginning of a day or the end, but not a stop in the middle.
In this case, I'll continue anyway, since the Crowne Plaza is literally on the Times Square and it won't influence much, but I wish there was an option to put a stop to check in and leave your bags.
I adjust the duration of my walk along the popular street and go back to the “Locations” to search for Forever XXI. To find it more easily, I use the bottom tab menu and select the option “Purchases”. Interestingly, according to the website's estimate, it would take me longer inside the store than to walk around the store. Times Square. #TRUTHS
I repeat the same process to add the Strawberry Fields, and my day is complete.
To start planning the next day, just change the date in the main menu, at the top of the page.

Important: The “Yacht tours” is actually for selling tours, like guided tour guided, transfers, this kind of thing. Normally I just ignore this part, but there are some that might be of interest to you, like the bus hop-on hop-off or even a helicopter flight over the city.
The “Hotels” is connected to Booking.com and passages to kiwi.com. The car rental part is provided by Sygic itself, which is originally a GPS company for vehicles, cell phones and tablets.

How to take your itinerary on your trip
There is no point in creating an itinerary and not taking it with you on the trip.
At the end of the menu on the left, in the “Daily Plan” there is the option to print the day plans. A PDF is generated with the path drawn on the map and each activity, with a short description, telephone numbers and addresses when appropriate.
In this case, I found the map difficult to read and would not rely solely on it to guide me. I recommend combining it with Google Maps to find out how to get to the next point using car, public transport or even walking.
If you don't know how to use Google Maps when traveling, take a look at this post!
There is also a app official, available for bothNdroid how much for iOS, but I honestly don't recommend it. It is only used to look at your schedule for the day, and it is not possible to see more details about the locations or add new ones. These options are only available to those who subscribe to the version premium, which currently costs US$9.99.
As I take my notebook on my trips, I look at the itinerary before leaving home, take a photo and, if I still need to make an appointment, I access the site through my cell phone browser. It works great, is well optimized for mobile, has all the functions of the desktop version and is completely free.
Video demo
As Sygic Travel is a little complicated at first, I decided to record a video putting together this itinerary for New York that I used as an example. It's very quick, and you'll realize that, with practice, this part of the planning becomes very easy.
And there it is, an overview of how to use Sygic Travel, a website for creating travel itineraries. You can also include multiple destinations, restaurants, hire services and even invite other people to make plans with you.
I hope this is helpful in planning your next adventure!
Do you know of any other website or app in the same style? Tell me in the comments!
I really loved this tip!! ????
I've always loved making travel itineraries, but I confess that it's a lot of work!! So this tip is great, I'm going to use it on my next trip!!
Glad you liked it, Flávia! <3
Girl! When I got interested in opening the post I thought: wow, what's the point? It must be another one of those silly things that you read and in the end it's a waste of time because it's useless.
But, what a surprise! Besides the fact that you write very well, with a fabulous teaching method, your tips are totally useful! Very good indeed. Thank you and keep writing to help first-time sailors like me.
Hi, Mirela! What a pleasure to read your comment, I'm very happy that the tips were useful!! Thanks for visiting and have a good first trip (of many!) <3
I installed it and a message appears to pay a fee. Do I have to pay or can I use the free one with a lot of things?
Everything I showed here in the post is free 🙂
Hi, Alyssa. I'm loving your tips and links, they're very useful, but I tried using this Sygic app and it didn't work. It didn't show up the way you did. It's a mess.
What a shame, it seemed very useful. I think I'm the one who's too tanse. Hehehheh
Hi, Saiô! I tried it again now and it seems to be working normally, what happened? 🙁
