If you're like me, you were really sad when you didn't get a letter from Hogwarts when you turned 11.
He was upset that he hadn't participated in the Triwizard Tournament.
Even the OWLs and NEWTs you would rather have faced than that not-so-cool subject in high school.
Well, time passed and the Harry Potter generation grew up (and passed on all their love for the saga to their children, nephews, younger brothers and everyone else who was left). But what if I told you that you could still experience some of this magic?
And I'm not talking about theme parks with simulators and full of souvenirs... But a visit to the Harry Potter studios in London, where the eight films were largely filmed! Yes, this place exists and is open for visitors!
Of all the tours I've ever taken on travel, I have to say that this was one of the most incredible. I don't know if it's because of the love for the subject or the amount of sets, costumes, dolls and curiosities that can be found throughout the tour.
O Warner Bros. London Tour - The Making of Harry Potter is in England, and is a mandatory stop for everyone who loves this magical world. Keep reading the post to find out how to get there, how much it costs and see lots of photos!
Directions
Warner Bros. London Tour is in Leavesden, approximately 30km from London. As it is very close to the city, what I recommend is following a classic itinerary for all the attractions, like this one 3 day itinerary in London from the blog Ideias na Mala, and on a calmer day set aside an afternoon to take this tour.
To get there, just take a train from London Euston station and get off at Watford Junction, the price is approximately £10 per person. From there, there is a themed shuttle that takes visitors to the studio, and costs £2.50 per person, return. It is recommended to arrive at the station 45 minutes before your ticket time.
There is also the possibility of taking a bus with Golden Tours in London and stop right at the studio door. The price for adults is £34 and for children £28.
Pricing
An adult entry costs £35, while children aged 5 to 15 pay £27. Anyone under this age can enter the Harry Potter studios in London for free.
There is the option to purchase a “family package“, which entitles two adults and two children (aged 15 or under) or one adult and three children to enter.
The purchase is made on the attraction's official website, and in addition to a specific date for visiting, you also need to choose a time. Tickets can be sent by post (worldwide shipping costs £6.95) or collected at the attraction itself. If you choose this last option, remember to bring the printed confirmation email and an ID.
At the end of the tour, there is a souvenir shop full of stuffed animals, Hogwarts uniforms, wands, keychains, mugs, scarves and everything related to the wizarding world. Bring money if you want a souvenir!
Harry Potter Studios in London
OK, past the informational part of the thing, let's go to the real tour!
After getting your tickets, you get in line to watch a video before starting a tour. But it's not boring at all, because in this queue you already see several paintings and even the Cabinet under the Stairs.
From there, you are taken directly to the Great Hall, where all the magic begins. He's not as big as he looks in the movies, but he's still impressive. In this part you can also see some costumes, such as house uniforms and the typical clothes of teachers.
It's not a guided tour, so you can take as long as you want and change the environment whenever you want. You can rent digital guides in several languages for £4.95, full of curiosities and interesting facts.
After the Hall, you enter an area full of other sets, clothes and striking objects from the series. Next to each of these things, there is a sign explaining a little about it and talking about interesting facts. For example, have you noticed that in the Gryffindor Common Room there is a painting of the younger Minerva McGonagall?
Flying objects, such as brooms, Hagrid's motorbike and Mr. Weasley's car are all together against a green wall, showing how filming was done. If you've got a bit of ££ to invest, you can get a video of yourself cruising around London in the Nimbus 2000.
A really cool part is a mural that has several letters delivered over the years, such as Hogwarts acceptance letters and the famous Howler that Ron received in Chamber of Secrets. Amazing to know they kept this at the Harry Potter studios in London after so many years!
Other interesting places in this part: Boys' Dormitory (the girls' dormitory was never set up, the door opened onto a corridor with nothing), Dumbledore's Office, Potions Room, The Burrow, parts of the Chamber of Secrets, sculpture from the Ministry of Magic.
From there, you move outside, with larger props and outdoor scenes. Rua dos Alfeneiros, nº4 is just a facade, but really fun to take photos visiting Harry! The Knight Bus and the chess pieces from the first film are also there!
Then you go to a part with dolls, and people, Arogogue is much cooler still than in the film haha Another one that is actually very sad is the Dobby, as he appears in his final minutes of life. On some days the staff leaves some socks in an attempt to free him.
Diagon Alley is just a facade, there is no way to enter the stores, but it is very interesting to look in the windows. Floreios e Borrões also has a showcase for the launch of “O Meu Eu Mágico”, written by Gilderoy Lockhart. A heart-wrenching part is the facade of Weasley Wizard Wheezes, I don't even need to mention why.
And finally, perhaps the most impressive part of the tour: the “miniature” of the Hogwarts Castle, and in quotes because, in fact, it is gigantic! At this point you realize how much thought was put into every little detail of the films.
On the way out, there's still a quote to break the hearts of those who already miss all the magic of the Harry Potter studios in London! I'm glad you released a new book, right?
Who has already been or wants to meet? I already want to go back now that I wrote this post! 🙁
For those who want more photos, the people at Ligado em Viagem have a post full of beautiful and super detailed images about HP studios!

This place is really incredible, every Harry Potter fan needs to go at least once in their life 😀 I'm glad you liked the post <3
I thought the family package option was really cool! But I know that there are many adults who are more eager to visit the studios than children! haha ha
ahahaha for sure, I saw very few children there!
