I took advantage of the last holiday to make another quick visit to Curitiba, accompanying a friend who was going to do a test in the city.
As the exact location was only announced a few days before the trip, most hotels and hostels were already fully booked, with very few rooms available. I did a quick search on Booking and discovered the Curitiba Casa Hostel, with great reviews and a 5-minute drive from where my friend needed to go.
We made a reservation for two nights in a mixed room with a private bathroom, where the daily rate was R$50 per bed.
In this post I tell you all my impressions in detail, but I can already say that It's one of the best hotels I've stayed in to date!
Remembering that I already reviewed another incredible hostel in Curitiba, the Social Hostel Café & Bar.
Curitiba Casa Hostel

According to the Booking page, check-in can be done from 14pm, but there is no time limit. I called there, since I didn't know what time we would go to the hostel, and they informed me that reception works 24 hours and that we could arrive until dawn.
It was very easy to get there using Waze, and even easier to find the place at night, as they have “Curitiba Casa Hostel” written big on the wall. The entire facade has countless beautiful drawings of places in Curitiba, such as the Botanical Garden.
We were welcomed by Luciano, who promptly explained to us how everything worked while we filled out our registration. We discovered that, in addition to it being a holiday, the high demand for accommodation over the weekend was due to three other events taking place in the city, and that's why the hostel was full.
We were by car and according to the page, reservations were not necessary for the parking, which is inside the property and costs R$8 per day. He informed us at the time that he did need a reservation, but luckily there was still a space available. I showed him the Booking page with the words “no reservation required” and he apologized and immediately made a note to change. I checked today and the change has already been made.
We went to our room without any problems and went to see the rest of the facilities.
Accommodation

As I already mentioned, we stayed in a mixed room with 8 beds and a private bathroom. For those who don't like this type of accommodation, they also have one in the same format but only for women. All rooms are named after the city's tourist attractions, and we stayed in the “Botanical Garden”. The decor was green and there was a beautiful drawing on the wall, right in front of my bed.
I'm the type of person who reads 300 reviews on Booking before booking an accommodation, even if the rating is very high. In this case, Curitiba Casa Hostel has an incredible score of 9.3, and what I read most was about how the beds were comfortable.
After getting to know it, I already think that the comments don't emphasize this part enough. The mattress is super comfortable, the pillow is neither too high nor too low, and they provide sheets and then blankets, enough to face the cold in the city.
The room has four bunk beds, each with a two drawers so guests can store their belongings. It seems small, but they are huge and have more than enough space for a backpack or even a suitcase. They are locked with key, and each person is responsible for theirs and needs to return it at check-out time.

O bathroom is big, but what caught my attention the most is that he was very clean. We arrived after 10pm and it looked like someone had just cleaned it up. The sink has a very large countertop and the shower works well and is hot, great for the low temperature of the day.
One detail that caught my attention is that the trash can is tall and large, which makes a lot of sense since it was a bathroom shared between 8 people. If there's one thing that I find clueless, it's leaving a small trash can like the ones we have at home for just a few people in an environment that will be shared and used frequently.
Another positive point is that they have liquid soap and paper to dry your hands like public bathrooms, something I don't usually see in other hotels.
In addition to our own, they also showed us two other bathrooms that we could use along the bedroom corridor.

Common Areas
Most of the staff gathered in the living room, which is full of sofas and has a television, computers and bookshelf. The hostel offers Free WiFi in all parts of the house, and I thought the signal was good most of the time.

Next to the room and facing the entrance door is the reception, which in addition to tourism brochures, has a blackboard with the schedule of parties and cool places for the week. They There is also a small “market”, which is actually a cupboard, with items that can be purchased, such as a toothbrush, noodles and soap.
As outside alcohol is not allowed, they also sell beers at a great price.

On the other side of the room is the entrance to the dining room, full of round tables and where breakfast is served, and then the kitchen. The latter is well equipped, with stove, microwave and refrigerator, as well as cutlery, glasses and plates. They also provide labels and ask anyone storing food to identify who it belongs to.

Speaking of coffee, I need to mention how varied it is! On both days there were various types of cake, bread, cold cuts, fruits, jellies and even dulce de leche. I didn't expect it from a hostel and I definitely think it's a differentiator. In fact, as it is served until 10 am, you can eat well and leave lunch until much later. Haha ha

No Booking There is a photo of an area with a barbecue and a pool table, but as we spent little time at the hostel we didn't get to see that part.
My experience
Well, as I went with friends, we spent most of the time sightseeing and returned to Curitiba Casa Hostel to sleep and shower.
With the exception of the parking “problem”, which was resolved immediately and did not cause any stress, our stay had no surprises. Everything was as described on Booking and the people who work there were super friendly and helpful.
More than once they came to our room to change the trash and the bathroom rug, and in every room I felt like it was a very clean and pleasant.
Highlight for Luciano, who was present almost every moment we were there, and who always asked us if we needed anything. One of the days, he actually took my friend's car out of the garage because it was in a parking space that was difficult to maneuver.
When we went out on Sunday night he recommended some bars in Batel and others on Itupava Street, which was about 5 minutes from the hostel by Uber. We went to check out one of them and the place was really cool, with live music and good prices.
We arrived around 1:30 in the morning, and as soon as we entered, the girl who was working at the reception asked us to be quiet, as there were a lot of people sleeping. please note that It's not a 24/7 party hostel, and from 23pm onwards they ask people to lower their voices.

I found the amazing stay, I was very positively surprised by the quality of Curitiba Casa Hostel and I would definitely stay there again. Who else has stayed there?
They appear on numerous lists of “best hostels in Curitiba”, including the one from TripAdvisor, and I couldn't agree more.
