Florianópolis
Florianópolis is one of my favorite places in the world, and it's where I lived for my first 25 years. It's not difficult to understand why the place attracts so many tourists: there are more than 40 beaches and stunning landscapes, as well as countless trail options, lagoons and other opportunities to enjoy nature. The nightlife and gastronomy also leave something to be desired.
In this category you will find my best tips about Floripa, from suggestions on where to stay (depending on the season, staying in the wrong place can make you waste hours in traffic), itinerary, best beaches and attractions.
The best way to get to know the island of magic is to rent a car, as public transport is not the most efficient and the times to get to the most remote locations are not the best. Furthermore, having your own vehicle allows you to visit several points in a single day, which in the north and south of the island is not very easy to do by bus. My suggestion is to rent with Rentcars, a partner company of the blog and where I always find the best prices!
I haven't yet written a post about the best restaurants in Florianópolis, so here are my recommendations: hamburger from the post at Soul brothers (it's at a gas station, but trust me it's a traditional experience, lol), giant portions of seafood in the Boka's (I recommend the breaded shrimp) and French fries burrito moochacho. The Coqueiros gastronomic route and the Santo Antônio neighborhood of Lisbon also have great restaurants.
Lastly, if you have a week or more to get to know the region, my suggestion is to do some day trips. My favorite is the one for Balneário Camboriú, but you can also take the opportunity to visit Beto Carrero or visit the incredible beaches of Bombinhas.
