Santa Catarina

Santa Catarina is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to take a trip to Brazil. The state has countless beaches, trails and nature activities, as well as great cuisine and nightlife in its main cities.

Most of the posts in this category are about Florianópolis, as that's where I lived for most of my life. I already wrote about where to stay in Magic Island (and trust me, staying in the wrong place can make your trip a lot more difficult), just like a 2-day itinerary for those who want to enjoy a weekend or holiday to get to know Floripa. Don't forget to also read about the main beaches in the region.

If you have more time on your trip, I also recommend doing some day trips or even spending two or three days in other places in the state. Balneário Camboriú is perfect for visiting during the day and enjoying the clubs and restaurants at night, and I have also published a quick itinerary around the city.

You can also enjoy shopping! The state has two outlets close to the capital, the Porto Belo Outlet Premium (which I already showed my impressions in this post) and the Fashion Outlet, with premium brands such as Farm, Bo.Bô, Calvin Klein and Animale. For bikinis and lingerie, it's also worth visiting Ilhota, and Brusque is a mandatory stop for anyone who wants to make some finds.

It is worth remembering that Santa Catarina is also home to the largest theme park in Latin America, Beto Carreiro. I've been a few times and I recommend visiting, however Read this post to find out what awaits you if you go in the summer. 

Finally, my recommendation is that you rent a car to explore the state. Public transport works, but it doesn't have the best times and it's difficult to take more than one trip a day. With your own vehicle, you can create your own itinerary and get to do some cool twists and turns!
