Where to shop in Orlando – Best stores, outlets and malls

A city ​​of magic It is one of Brazilians' favorite destinations when it comes to shopping, with countless options of shopping malls, outlets and huge stores.

As most people who visit Orlando, however, are not there for the shopping, but for the parks, the itinerary does not always allow plenty of time to wander around looking for the best stores and taking a leisurely look.

I, for example, on my first visit, was just um shopping mall and an outlet, as well as a quick stop at a Walmart.

Because there are so many options and little time, I recommend planning which stores and malls you want to visit beforehand. This way, you know what is non-negotiable during your days in the city, and what can be left for a next visit.

But, to do this planning, you need to know where to shop in Orlando, right? And that's exactly what I'm going to show you in this post. I separated the best stores, shopping malls and outlets, with tips on what to buy, what is unmissable, and how to make the most of your time.

Before starting, however, I need to explain a little about the famous rates American.

Shopping fees in Orlando

In the United States, the tax value of products is not added to labels and displays. What you see in the store are the amounts without fees, and when you go to the checkout, they are added.

Each state and city has a tax amount, and in Orlando this tax is 6,5%. This means that every time you check the price of a product, you need to add 6,5% to the value shown.

Taxes in Miami are 7%, and in New York they reach 8,8%. Therefore, if your trip includes destinations other than Orlando, it is best to leave your shopping in the city of magic. The exception is if your trip is in high season. (American summer), then take what you can find because no one knows what will be available the next day.

How to pay for purchases in Orlando? Is credit card or cash better?

Here on the blog there is a post where I explained the advantages and disadvantages of each payment method, including credit card, cash and the famous travel money. 

Personally, I prefer to pay by credit card, despite the 6,38% IOF rate for international transactions. I think it's safer, and it also accumulates miles to spend on future trips. The cards credit Brazilians are accepted in the United States, however only for payments in dollars. Some stores offer the possibility of paying in reais, but it does not work with credit cards.

If you are going to use cash, the ideal is to exchange it in Brazil, to avoid the costs of withdrawing from ATMs with Brazilian cards.

Another option is to create a virtual bank account that accepts foreign currencies and does not have exchange rates, like Wise. For the United States, another very popular option is Nomad.

Where to stay for shopping in Orlando

Despite having great places to shop, hardly anyone goes to Orlando just for that. Typically, people combine days in parks and days of shopping. Therefore, the ideal is to stay in areas that are not only close to the best stores and shopping malls, but also close to parks. 

In this case, the best places to stay are:

• international drive: the most popular avenue in Orlando, with countless hotels, restaurants, shops, outlets and close to Universal.

• On the outskirts of Disney: close to Disney Springs, Premium Outlet Vineland and stores like Target and Walmart.

The two locations are practically the same distance from the city's main shopping malls. Furthermore, it is possible to find hotels in the same price range.

What are the best value-for-money hotels to stay in each of these locations?

Rosen Inn at Pointe

On International Drive, The Rosen Inn at Pointe It is perfect for those who want to enjoy the days in parks and shopping malls, and just take a shower and sleep at the hotel. If you want to relax one day or another, don't worry, there is still a pool and café on site. From there you can also walk to several restaurants and there is a CVS practically next door. Another option in practically the same location but with a little more comfort is the Embassy Suites by Hilton.

Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista

Next to Disney Springs, The Wyndham Garden It has two swimming pools (heated when necessary), a small water park, restaurant, wet bar and free transportation to the parks. From there you can walk to the Disney center, and there is even a Starbucks next door. For a more luxurious option, you can take a look at Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace.

Personally, I suggest staying at hotels close to Disney, as the ones I mentioned are partners with the company and guests are entitled to early entry to the parks every day. Use this advantage to avoid having to buy line-jumpers like Genie+ and Lightning Lane, and use this money for more purchases (why not? LOL).

Where to shop in Orlando

I divided the post between the best outlets, the best malls and better stores, as some of them are not in any of these locations. 

Best outlets in Orlando  

Outlets are nothing more than discount malls. These are stores oficiais, which normally sell products from past collections for a much lower price than those charged in shopping malls.

I absolutely adoro outlets and, even with the value of the dollar, it is still possible to make incredible finds. I've bought bras from Victoria's Secret for $10, all-white sneakers from New Balance for $50, dresses from Abercrombie for $15, and more.

The outlets are usually huge, and many people take empty suitcases to carry their purchases. I recommend doing the same if you intend to buy a lot, and Never leave your purchases in the car. Break-ins are common, and there are many reports of travelers having all their purchases stolen in this way. 

It is also worth remembering that outlets are usually in the open, so if you don't like getting wet, leave rainy days to traditional shopping malls. On the other hand, these are the days when they are emptiest…

The best outlets in Orlando are:

Premium Outlet International Drive

Address: 5269 International Dr.

The brand Premium outlet It has several outlets across the United States. The biggest and best outlet in Orlando is the Premium Outlet on International Drive. Some of the stores there are:

You can check the full list of stores at this link. This is the only outlet in Orlando with Victoria's Secret. 

This outlet is huge and you will easily spend a whole day there without being able to visit everything. My suggestion: take a map from the information desk, plot a route and follow a logical path, without going back and forth. 

If you need to choose just one outlet to shop in Orlando, I suggest it be this one. Next door is Yes Brasil, a Brazilian store that sells all the brands we like most, and the Orlando Outlet Marketplace, a small outlet, as well as a TJ Maxx, Ross and BuyBuy Baby.  

Premium Outlet Vineland

Address: 8200 Vineland Ave

The Vineland Outlet has all the “common” stores found in large outlets, such as Nike, Adidas, Aldo, Aeropostale, Calvin Klein… but it also has luxury stores, for those who have a larger budget.

This outlet tends to be emptier, so if you want a (slightly) quieter walk, this could be a great option.

Some stores, especially luxury ones, produce exclusive pieces for outlets, with a lower quality than their premium products. Therefore, evaluate the quality carefully if you are going to take any item from these stores. Many are still worth it, but it's always good to keep an eye out.

Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores

Address: 15657 S Apopka Vineland Rd

The only outlet on the list that is not a Premium brand, Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores is smaller than the other two mentioned here, but it still has some interesting stores, as well as better restaurants.

It's an interesting place, but I only recommend it if you've already visited the other outlets and still have time left on your itinerary.

Going to Miami?

If your trip includes a stop in Miami, I suggest you visit my favorite outlet, the best I've visited to date: Sawgrass Mills. This is the largest outlet in the United States, and has an incredible mix of affordable stores and luxury stores. 

There are traditional stores, like Nike, Adidas, but there's also Victoria's Secret, Intimissimi, Hollister, Pandora, a huge Target, Burlington, TJ Maxx and even a Primark! 

If it's on your way, it's definitely worth stopping there!

Best Malls in Orlando

There are only two large shopping malls in Orlando, and I separate them into: the mall regular and the mall luxurious.

The Florida Mall

Address: 8001 S Orange Blossom Trl

The Florida Mall is the largest shopping mall in central Florida, and I confess that the first time I visited, I couldn't even go around the single floor completely. There are countless stores and restaurants, and if you need to choose just um place to shop in Orlando, this is probably the best.

This is a shopping mall to spend the whole day, and there are also many good restaurants on site for you to recharge. There's Shake Shack, Five Guys, Popeye's, Taco Bell and even a Carlo's Bakery!

Around the Florida Mall you will still find a Target, Best Buy and Macrobaby.

Mall at Millenia 

Address: 4200 Conroy Rd

The Mall at Millenia is Orlando's luxury shopping mall. If you're looking for premium brands, you'll probably only find them here.

In addition to the more traditional stores such as Apple, Sunglass Hut, Abercrombie, Hollister, Victoria's Secret, Anthropologie, Sephora, Aritzia, Pandora, etc. The complete list can be found here. Near the mall you will also find a Best Buy and even an IKEA, the perfect place to buy items for the home!

The restaurants California Kitchen Grill, Earls Kitchen + Bar, Johnny Rockets and PF Changs are also present there. There is also a Wendy's, Panda Express and TGI Fridays and Olive Garden nearby. 

Best stores in Orlando

Some of the best stores in Orlando are so big that they don't even fit inside shopping malls or outlet malls. Still, it's worth taking the time to visit some of them, as they have the best prices in some categories.

Best Buy

Adresses: 8350 S Orange Blossom Trl 4155 Millenia Blvd 4601 E Colonial Dr 

The largest chain of electronics stores in the United States. At Best Buy you can find cell phones, computers, household items, tablets, video games, televisions, and any new technological product on the market.

In addition to competitive prices, Best Buy also has its own refurbishing and second-hand program. In other words, there you can also find used video games at a great price, and electronics that look like new, which have been repaired and are sold cheaper, still with a warranty. It's a great place to save, and I've only had good experiences with refurbished products.

If you have any electronic items on your shopping list, I suggest stopping by Best Buy before going to the official stores. It's also the best place to save on technology during Black Friday! But get there early as the queues are huge.

Walmart

Adresses: 5734 S Orange Blossom Trl 3250 Vineland Rd 8101 S John Young Pkwy

Walmart is one of the largest chain stores in the United States, and you can find all, but absolutely all over there. There are makeup, beauty, clothing, vitamins, shoes, sporting goods, food, electronics, home equipment, baby layette… and the prices are excellent, especially for private label items.

I've bought a lot of makeup there, as well as home items, which usually cost very few dollars. For those who want to buy souvenirs and gifts, it is also a great option, as there are many Disney products at a much better price than in the parks, including keychains, plush toys and t-shirts.

I consider it a mandatory stop if you want to save money in Orlando, as it is the ideal place to buy snacks to take to the parks, as well as bottled water. While a single Mickey-shaped ice cream costs around US$5, with that amount you can buy cereal bars and chocolates at Walmart for almost the entire trip.

Target

Adresses: 11619 Daryl Carter Pkwy 4750 Millenia Plaza Way 880 Sand Lake Rd

Target is very similar to Walmart, with the exception that their own products are of higher quality. It's impossible not to get lost inside with so many good things at excellent prices, and it's not uncommon to see great influencers showing clothes and decor purchased at Target. 

If you are looking for items that are a little more difficult to find, like some imported chocolates, for example, I also suggest looking at Target, where this type of selection is larger. It's also the best place to find some makeup brands like elf and Pixi, as well as selling some exclusive brands.

In Orlando there are Target and Super Target stores, which are even larger stores than normal. In my itineraries, I have a day with the item “super target”, because I already know I'm going to waste a few hours in there.

Macrobaby 

Address: 1361 Florida Mall Ave

If you are thinking about making baby layettes in Orlando, you need to know Macrobaby. The store is huge and has everything for children, from cribs and strollers, to clothes, accessories and hygiene items. They also offer a 4D ultrasound service, so you can have a great memory of your visit.

Are hundreds of the most popular brands for babies and children, and you can find the famous City Jogger strollers, and brands like Chicco, Carter's and several others.

If you don't have time to research and put together your baby layette list with already chosen products, you can hire the VIP service, where an expert on the subject will help you decide which items are best for you and your baby.

Yes Brazil

Address: 5480 International Dr

Yes Brasil not only sells the famous Viaje Conectado, travel chip that allows you to have internet as soon as you get off the plane. The company also has a physical store that is very visited by Brazilians in Orlando, as it sells all those things that we like: perfumes, electronics, beauty and hair products, luggage and much more.

It's a great help for those who want to shop quickly and be served by Brazilians, who can help you with some recommendations. Furthermore, as it is close to the Premium Outlet on International Drive, it is a super strategic stop to add to your itinerary, especially with a Brazilian restaurant right next door.

ROSS and TJ MAXX

Address: 5295 International Dr (both stores are next to each other) 4661 Millenia Plaza Way 11625 Regency Village Dr

ROSS and TJ MAXX are out-of-stock stores. It's not exactly like an outlet because outlets have several stores with different brands, and in this case each of these stores is responsible for selling several different brands to each other. prices even lower than those you find in outlets. I've bought, for example, workout tops from Under Armor and Reebok for $5 each, sneakers from Skechers for $15, and bags from Samsonite for $60.

It's a great place to buy bags, and I've seen brands like Tommy, Calvin Klein and even Michael Kors there, in addition to some units having luxury product sections. They also sell a lot of good brand name clothing, and the size selection is excellent.

The problem with these stores is that they are huge, they have a lot of products, and after opening everything is a mess. I've gotten to the point where I've given up on wearing sneakers because I could only find one of my feet. The suggestion here is to arrive early, at opening time, as everything will still be ready, or go with a lot of patience.

CVS and Walgreens

There is nothing like an American pharmacy. There are aisles and aisles of all the hygiene, beauty and health items you can imagine: makeup, face creams, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, hair masks, medicines, body creams, vitamins... There are some pharmacies that have an entire aisle just dedicated to paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin, with several types of each!

It's a completely different world from pharmacies in any other country, and if you like this type of product you definitely need to go to one at least once to check it out. If you need some snacks, you can also take advantage of the visit as they also sell food!

REI

Address: 430 Orlando Ave, Winter Park

REI is like the Decathlon of the United States, with sporting goods and products for outdoor use. It has everything you can imagine, from camping equipment, clothes, shoes, barbecue grills, backpacks, bicycles, kayaks, climbing items... Anyone who likes this type of store will love REI.

If you're looking for travel accessories, this is also the place. You can find backpacks from premium brands, such as Osprey, Deuter and Cotopaxi, as well as all kinds of useful items, such as a plug adapter, towels that don't take up space in your suitcase, and even action cameras! 

IKEA

Address: 4092 Eastgate Dr

IKEA is not an American store, on the contrary, it is a European store from Sweden. But that doesn't stop it from being a Great place to shop in Orlando if you want items for home. She's like a giant Tok&Stok, to the point of having restaurants and snack bars in various parts of the store, so you can recharge your batteries before continuing shopping.

Of course, you won't be able to buy furniture, as you can't carry it in your suitcase. Therefore, the first floor will be more useful for you to get some inspiration. It's downstairs that you'll be able to have fun, with utensils for the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, offices, bedding, paintings… And all at a super affordable price.

It's a delight for those who like decoration, and I suggest believing in the way the store was structured and eating something when you arrive at a restaurant (the design of the store itself is entirely planned to improve your experience). The meatballs and chocolate tart are my favorite items on the menu. 

Disney springs

Address: 1486 Buena Vista Dr 

Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney, is as if it were o Disney center. There you will find not only shops, but also restaurants, cinema, bowling, clubs and even shows. It's an excellent trip, not only for shopping, but for enjoying the atmosphere and relaxing a bit.

• Disney's Days of Christmas (only sells Disney Christmas items)
• Disney's Pin Traders (for those who like pine Disney)

• World of Disney (largest Disney store in Orlando)

You can check out the rest of the stores at this link. If you weren't able to find any Disney items inside the parks, take a look at World of Disney as the store is huge.

If you also want to eat there, I suggest Asian food at Morimoto Asia, the themed Rainforest Cafe and T-REX, and desserts at Amorette's Patisserie.

Universal also has its “little center”, CityWalk, but I consider it more of a place to go for dinner than shopping, as there aren't that many stores.

What's worth buying in Orlando?

The answer to this question is the same as “what is worth buying in the United States.” That is, practically everything. A general list would be: 

• iPhone and Samsung Galaxy
• Electronics in general, especially from Apple
• Cosmetics (makeup, skin creams, hair creams, perfumes)
• Supplements and Vitamins
• Brand Clothing (The North Face, Guess, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie, Hollister, Levi's, GAP, Calvin Klein, etc.)
• Accessories (Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors)
• Sneakers and Workout Clothes (only in outlets or stock outlets)
• Funko POP
• Sports equipment
• Baby layette

I only put sneakers and workout clothes in the outlet because the prices of the current collections in shopping mall stores are very similar to Brazil, and then it's more worth leaving to buy at home and pay in installments. It is the same case, interestingly, with the Ray Ban brand and aviators classics.
