8 Disney breakfasts you need to know!

By Alyssa Prado

Do you want to have a different experience on your trip to Orlando? How about breakfast at Disney with some of your favorite characters? Discover the best restaurants to start your day in a magical way in this post!

One of the best parts of my work exchange in the United States was to have a discount on almost everything within the company, including breakfasts at Disney with characters!

This type of meal is offered in restaurants inside the park and in hotels in the Disney complex in Orlando, and while you eat some characters stop by your table to take photos. It may seem childish, but it's super fun and most of them have a buffet. all you can eat (eat as much as you want).

Back then, the days we had breakfast at Disney were the best, because we ate so much that my friends and I often skipped until dinner! Great for saving, rs.

Excited, we decided to try several restaurants, and in this post I will tell you about my experience in six of them. If you're going to the land of magic for the first time, I highly recommend booking a character meal! In this post, you can check out other things that you can't miss when visiting Orlando for the first time.

I also gave tips on other breakfasts that I personally haven't been to yet, but which were highly recommended by some of my colleagues, acquaintances and bloggers around the world.

THE BEST Character Breakfasts at Disney

Before I show you the best character breakfasts at Disney, I would like to clarify a few points:

The characters that will appear depend on the location, so if you do question To have a meal with Mickey, for example, you need to choose an establishment where he will be present.

Most restaurants operate on the system all you can eat with buffets Huge meals with food of all types are served. It has the typical American breakfast, with eggs, bacon, sausage, even fruit and pastries. Depending on the theme of the establishment, you may find traditional foods from other places, such as the Tusker House at Animal Kingdom. Some restaurants, however, work with a menu system, and you are only allowed to choose one of the dishes. For each of those mentioned here in the post, I explained how the system works.

Regardless of the location chosen, it is best to make a reservation in advance using the app. My disney experience In the case of establishments located inside hotels, you do not need to be a guest to have a meal, but you need a ticket to the park if you are going to have breakfast at a restaurant located inside one of them. From 2021 onwards, it is also necessary to make a park reserve (which is different from reserving a table in a restaurant), to guarantee your entry as capacity is still reduced.

TRAVELING IN 2021 OR 2022?

Remembering that Disney currently has some different rules in place, as it is still reopening after the pandemic. Not all of the restaurants on this list are currently open, and not all of those that are open have the characters appearing at breakfast. Check out the current situation on this page on the Disney website.

Travel Insurance for the United States

Although not mandatory, It is highly recommended to take out travel insurance for your trip to Disney.

Health services tend to be very expensive in the United States, and for any problem such as a sore throat or something more serious, you will have to pay hundreds of dollars to be treated. Travel insurance costs just a fraction of that amount, and you have a support team in Portuguese to guide you in any emergency situation. As someone who has already needed to use this service several times and saved a lot, I can assure you that it is worth the “investment”.

Starting with the six Disney breakfasts I've been to (in order of favoritism):

Chef Mickey's

Where: Contemporary's Resort

Price: Between $35 and $59.99 per adult.

Breakfasts at Disney - Chef Mickey's

One of the most traditional Disney breakfasts is the Chef Mickey's. It is a great option to visit before going to the parks, as the Monorail runs inside the Contemporary's Resort itself, which takes you to EPCOT and Magic Kingdom.

The characters in the room are Mickey's gang, with the most famous mouse in the world, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy.

The buffet isn't one of the biggest among the options in this post, but it certainly doesn't let you down. nothing to wish. It's the traditional American breakfast, with bacon, eggs, pancakes, Mickey-shaped waffles, sausage... For those who aren't very fond of these options, cakes, muffins, cereals, fruits and other sweets are also offered. No one will be hungry.

As it is one of the most popular establishments, it is best to make a reservation in advance, as it is unlikely that there will be tables available on the day.

Tip: When we were there, a couple of friends had the “Happily Ever After” pin, and to celebrate their “honeymoon” the restaurant staff sent two cupcakes Super cute!

1900 park fare

Where: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Price: Between $15 and $34.99 per adult.

Breakfasts at Disney - Dish at 1900 Park Fare
One of my breakfast dishes (I don't deny that I repeated it several times).

In one of Disney's most beautiful hotels, the 1900 park fare has a Victorian theme, with an air of british afternoon tea.

The breakfast characters follow the same theme, and are all English. You will find the Pooh, Tigger, Alice, Mad Hatter and the Mary Poppins gang. No wonder this meal is called Supercalifragilistic Breakfast!

This was one of my favorites, because not only was the decor amazing, but the food was also amazing. It was one of the biggest buffets that I saw, ranging from different puff pastries, sweets, special jellies, croissants, breads… The fruit options weren't very varied, so those who prefer something lighter will probably enjoy other places on this list.

For children, there is a children's buffet, present at almost all character breakfasts at Disney. The fun is on the Mickey Waffles (which is in the children's section but I confess that I ate several, lol).

When you finish your coffee, if you're not in a rush, it's well worth walking around the property. There are several stores on the common floors, and the outside is spectacular. If no wedding is taking place, you can even visit the Wedding Pavilion! Seriously, this hotel is beautiful.

You also need a reservation as it is very popular., and from there you can also take the Monorail to EPCOT or Magic Kingdom.

Cape May Cafe

Where: Disney's Beach Club Resort

Price: Between $35 and $59.99 per adult.

Breakfast at Disney - Cape May Cafe
And this goofball in a wetsuit?

O Cape May Cafe It has a more beachy theme. There you find Minnie, Goofy and Donald (without Mickey), all in bathing suits. It's very, very cute!!

talking about the buffet lines This was the one I liked the most, and Cape May just doesn't take the title of favorite because the hotel isn't as nice as the Grand Floridian. There is a huge selection of cheeses, fruits, yogurt with granola, breads, fruit salads, eggs, ham… Very similar to what we eat in Brazil. American options such as bacon, salmon and sausages are also present, but in smaller quantities than in other places.

My favorite part was the “pastries”, puff pastries with numerous fillings. The apple one was so wonderful that I I don't even know how many times have I repeated, hehe.

It's not that popular, so you might be able to get a fitting on the day. Still, I would make a reservation just to be safe. As the Monorail doesn't run there, if you go to a park afterwards you have to drive (parking is paid only once) or use one of the free buses that run around the complex.

Tusker House

Where: Disney's Animal Kingdom

Price: Between $15 and $34.99 per adult

Breakfasts at Disney - Tusker House
Donald explorer!

Among all the breakfasts at Disney mentioned here, the Tusker House, in the Animal Kingdom park, is the most different. Its theme is Africa, and there are references to the continent in the decoration, food and characters.

The restaurant’s proposal is “safari with Donald“, and at the entrance you can already get a photo with him dressed in explorer clothes. Is there anything cuter? O Mickey, Minnie and Daisy are also there, all wearing themed clothes.

The buffet is all you can eat and offers both the options “normal” other restaurants, as well as different fruits and dishes. I remember a divine quiche, and drinks like strawberry lemonade. Without a doubt, the one with the most variety.

It is very popular so you need a reservation, as well as a valid ticket to visit the park on the day.

'Ohana

Where: Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Price: Between $15 and $34.99 per adult

Breakfasts at Disney - 'Ohana
Watch out for the Mickey Waffles on our table! haha ha

Another that follows a different theme, in 'Ohana you are transported to Hawaii and other Pacific islands.

The characters there couldn't be any different: Lilo and Stitchplus Mickey and Pluto.

The restaurant is system all you can eat, but instead of a buffet lines employees serve food on the table. I thought the variation was small, and what we received most were Mickey waffles (which I love, but I missed other things!). Honestly, I prefer the other restaurants when it comes to food, and I thought Ohana' was worth it for the decor.

After finishing your meal, this is another hotel that is worth strolling through the common areas. The little shop on the first floor is full of cool things, and even has a artificial beach.

The day we went it wasn't full, and I believe that out of season you don't need a reservation. Either way, I suggest securing your spot using the app My Disney Experience. The Monorail also runs there to EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, and you can also take a bus to the other parks.

Cinderella's Royal Table

Where: Disney's Magic Kingdom

Price: Between $35 and $59.99 per adult.

Breakfasts at Disney - Cinderella's Royal Table

O Cinderella's Royal Table It's amazing, but you pay more for the experience than the food.

Inside the Magic Kingdom, this restaurant is inside the castle of Cinderella, and has the presence of herself, in addition to the princesses Ariel, Jasmine and Aurora (may vary).

The big difference between this restaurant and others is that it not It's in the scheme all you can eat, and there is a menu with available dish options. There is the traditional American one, with sausage, bacon, potatoes and eggs, and others like shrimp, cheese snacks and even a fitness. You can check out the full menu on the Disney website.

The experience is unique (There is practically no other way to enter the castle), but you pay more to eat less. You can even get a photo with the princesses in other parts of the park.

Without a doubt, it is one of the most popular Disney breakfasts, and you need to reserve in advance. It is one of the only ones that you need to pay in advance, at the time of booking. Remembering that as it is located inside the Magic Kingdom, you need a valid ticket to the park that day.

This is one of those super fun experiences that only Disney magic can provide you. It's not the cheapest of meals, especially with the high dollar, but I think it's worth trying at least once. If you purchased the Dining Plan, check if the plan allows you to use credits at these establishments.

OTHER DISNEY BREAKFASTS WITH CHARACTERS

Now that we've gone through all the ones I visited, I wanted to give 3 more tips on cool restaurants – some opened after my time as a Cast Member, while others I just didn't have time to fit into my schedule, lol.

Topolino's Terrace

Where: Disney's Riviera Resort

Price: Between US$35 to US$59.99

Topolino's Terrace, as the name suggests, is a restaurant located on the terrace of the Riviera Resort, close to EPCOT. In addition to offering French and Italian themed dinner, the place also offers a character breakfast, Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends. The name already gives a hint of the theme, and there you will find characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy dressed as art students, each of them reflecting their specialty.

As it is something a little more sophisticated, breakfast does not work buffet style, but rather a fixed price menu where you choose which dishes you want to try (you can order more than one). There is also the option of ordering cocktails, both alcoholic and virgin.

The reviews on all the blogs and even on Google say that this is one of the best restaurants in Disney, both for breakfast and dinner, so if you want to visit, You need to book in advance.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Where: EPCOT

Price: US$35 to US$59.99

If your favorite characters are the princesses, you can also have a meal with them at EPCOT, in the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Being located in World Showcase, inside the Norwegian pavilion, this restaurant offers not only typical American breakfast options, but also Norwegian dishes.. In other words, not only will you see different characters from the rest of the other breakfasts, but you will also taste some delicacies from other cultures.

Remembering that as you stay inside the park, you will need a valid ticket (in addition to a reservation) to be able to have breakfast.

    • Oh what a shame you didn't find nearly any! Next to the park maps there is a sheet that you can take that tells you where to find the characters and the times! Next time you go, take a look and see if you can find some! 🙂

Thank you and good luck to your YouTube channel too 🙂

  4. Good morning Alyssa, I intend to go to Cape May Cafe on the day we will be celebrating my daughter's birthday and on that same day we will be going to Magic Kingdom. My question is whether there is transportation from Cape May to there. We will be staying at Disney All Star Sports

  5. Hi Alyssa, how are you?

For those who go to have breakfast at one of these hotels, is parking paid? In this case, can the car stay there and take transport to the parks? Thank you in advance! Rosi

    Reply
    • Hi Rosi! Parking at hotels for those going to have breakfast or other experiences is free, only overnight stays are paid! I'm not sure about the car being able to stay there, better confirm by calling the hotel or there on the same day 🙂

      Thanks for the comment! <3
